What makes Arctic Ape products different?
We design and hand-build every unit using Thermory® treated timber, premium hardware, and commercial-grade filtration and heating systems.
Each sauna, ice bath, or pod is built for longevity, stability, and a refined user experience.
Can your products be installed indoors or outdoors?
Yes. All our saunas and ice baths are suitable for both indoor and outdoor environments. Outdoor installations simply require correct ground preparation and weather protection for power connections.
What is your lead time?
Lead times vary between 6-8 weeks depending on your custom design. We’ll confirm your production timeline prior to you placing your order as we try manage all expectations as much as we can.
Do you offer custom finishes or branding?
Yes — we can customise cladding, colours, LED lighting, cover options, branding and more. Chat to us about what you’d like to achieve and one of our design teams can discuss what your requirements are.

What preparation is required before installation?
A level, stable base is essential.

Misa Sauna: Paving stones are sufficient if the soil beneath is compact and well-drained.

Misa Pod / Millo / Orka Pod: Require a concrete slab or professionally confirmed paved base.
Our team will guide you before installation day.
Who handles the electrical connection?
We recommend using your own trusted electrician to run the supply from your main DB to the installation site, as close as possible to the site, and no further than 2m away. Our team completes the final connection during installation. specific electrical requirements are subject to which design you choose so please get in touch if you need more info on this prior to engaging with us
Do I need to do a burn-in?
Yes. Your first heat-up should run for 60–90 minutes to burn off factory residues and prepare the heater, rocks, and timber.
Can your products be installed on a deck?
Yes they can subject to a professional confirming that the structure where our unit will be placed have been signed off. We suggest using a structural engineer.
Depending on the situation , you may be required to provide us with a sign off prior to our installation.
Sauna FAQs
This section answers all your questions about using, maintaining, and enjoying your sauna, including temperatures, burn-in, rocks, and cleaning.
What’s the ideal sauna temperature?
Most clients enjoy between 65°C – 90°C. Beginners often start at 55°C and build up
What is Löyly ?
The Finnish term for the steam created by pouring water on hot sauna rocks is löyly (pronounced "LOY-loo"), which also signifies the whole experience. The ladle used is a löylykauha, and the act of throwing water is essential to creating the intense heat and atmosphere.
Can I pour water on the heater?
Absolutely !!! One of the best things about our saunas is getting to pour water on your heater and enjoying ‘löyly'
Can I pour aromatherapy oils directly onto the rocks
No. Essential oils in their raw , natural state are highly flammable. If you want to enjoy using oils during your sauna , we recommend purchasing Harvia approved oils that are prepared and safe to use. Please chat to one of our team if you are unsure.
How do I clean the inside of the sauna?
Use a soft brush, mild unscented soap, and warm water. Avoid harsh chemicals or oils that can stain the timber.
Ice Bath FAQs
Learn how to use, care for, and get the most out of your ice bath — including temperature guidance, water care, placement, and maintenance.
What temperature should I run my ice bath at?
Most people set the bath between 4°C – 12°C. Beginners tend to start at 10–12°C and work down gradually.
How often should I change the water?
With filtration and ozone/sanitiser, water can last 4–8 weeks depending on usage.
Does the ice bath need drainage?
All of our units are supplied with a submersible pump to drain the water and takes about 15 min.
How do I clean the inside of the ice bath?
Use a soft brush, mild unscented soap, and warm water. Avoid harsh chemicals or oils that can stain the timber.
Contrast Therapy Pods

What is a Contrast Therapy Pod?
A combined heat + cold wellness system featuring a full sauna and integrated ice bath in one premium unit — designed for efficiency, space-saving, and seamless daily routines.
Can I run the sauna and ice bath at the same time?
Yes. Each system has its own dedicated power supply and operates independently.
What are the electrical requirements for pods?
Single Phase : We will require a 40 amp supply (6mm 3 core cable) and a 15amp supply from your main DB to the installation site, with 3-4 meters to spare.
3 Phase : We will require a 40amp supply ( 4mm 5 core cable ) and a 15amp supply from your main DB to the installation site, with 3-4 meters to spare.
Do pods include filtration and sanitation?
Yes — ozone generator and bromine
Electrical & Power
We recommend using your own trusted electrician for this part. The Arctic Ape™ team will then handle the connection at the installation site.
Misa / Misa Pod ( 6kw heater )
Single Phase : We will require a 32amp supply ( 4mm 3 core cable ) and a 15amp supply from your main DB to the installation site, with 3-4 meters to spare.
3 Phase : We will require a 32amp supply ( 4mm 5 core cable ) and a 15amp supply from your main DB to the installation site, with 3-4 meters to spare.
Millo / Orka Pod ( 9kw heater )
Single Phase : We will require a 40 amp supply ( 6mm 3 core cable ) and a 15amp supply from your main DB to the installation site, with 3-4 meters to spare.
3 Phase : We will require a 40amp supply ( 4mm 5 core cable ) and a 15amp supply from your main DB to the installation site, with 3-4 meters to spare.
Water requirements:
If you choose to include a shower, please arrange the supply of the water point beforehand so when we do the installation there are no delays. Please note this is a cold-water shower only but should you wish to have hot water, your plumber can install a geyser and bring a hot water supply.
Cleaning & Maintenance
Everything you need to know about caring for your unit long-term, from timber care to ice bath care and preventing moisture issues.
How do I clean the sauna timber?
Use warm water, mild soap, and a soft brush. Don’t use oils, varnishes, or chemical cleaners.
How do I prevent mould?
Keep the sauna door slightly open after use allowing steam and heat to escape. Regular airflow is key.
Safety & Usage
Arctic Ape™ are not medically trained to advise on use of our saunas and/or ice baths. Please make sure you consult with a medial practitioner before use.
Is contrast therapy safe for beginners?
Yes — start slowly. Begin with short heat sessions (5–10 min) and cold dips (20–60 sec). Build up as your body adapts.
Can children use the sauna or ice bath?
With supervision and reduced temperatures/times, yes. Always consult a medical professional.
Are there any medical conditions that need caution?
If you are pregnant, have heart conditions, or blood pressure issues, please consult a medical professional before use.
Delivery & Lead Times

Do you deliver nationwide?
Yes — we deliver and install across South Africa. Remote locations may have added logistics, which we’ll confirm upfront.
How are the units transported?
Most units are delivered partially assembled and Installed on site. Restricted access will require planning with our team.

Arctic Ape™ carries a 2 year workmanship garantuee. Our Harvia heaters carry a 1 year manufacturers guarantee however spare parts are locally available should the need arise to resolve an issue.
